The five-minute desk reset for tight shoulders
Simple stretches and one breathing trick to undo hours of hunching — no mat needed.

If your shoulders creep towards your ears by mid-afternoon, you're in good company. Most of the professionals we see carry their stress in the same place: the upper back, neck and jaw. The good news is that a few minutes of mindful movement can make a real difference.
1. Drop and breathe
Sit tall, let your shoulders rise as you breathe in through your nose, then let them fall heavily as you sigh out through your mouth. Repeat five times. It sounds too simple to work — try it anyway.
2. Ear to shoulder
Tilt your right ear towards your right shoulder and rest your right hand lightly on your head. Don't pull — just let the weight do the work. Hold for five slow breaths, then swap sides.
3. Doorway chest opener
Place your forearms on either side of a doorway and step gently forward until you feel a stretch across your chest. Hunching closes this area all day; opening it helps your shoulders sit back naturally.
4. The 4-7-8 breath
Breathe in for four, hold for seven, breathe out for eight. Three rounds is enough to calm your nervous system before a big meeting.
These won't replace a proper massage when the knots set in, but done daily they'll keep tension from building up. If you'd like help with persistent tightness, our deep tissue sessions are designed exactly for this.
